Nome Alaska will always be famous for the gold boom the town came to experience in the late 1800s and early period of the 1900s.  The town has seen and upsurge in gold mining in the last 20 years as gold has reached record prices.

In and around the area of Nome you can find tours and day trips that will take you back in time to experience the trill of mining for the golden nugget known as Gold.  On many of the day trips you can mine and keep any and all of the Gold you are able to find from them hills and streams.  The area is also known for the fishing.  The area offers several types of Salmon.  Of course the beauty and nature of the area is still wonderful.

Nome is located in an area of the Southern Seward Peninsula or in the Northwestern part of the state of Alaska.  The town is the economic center for the area and native arts and crafts can be found in the area.

Nome was established during the gold rush in the late 1990s.  The gold was found in Anvil Creek and and the first settlers called the town Anvil City and it was later changed to Nome.  The town offers a relaxing and peaceful trip out of the ordinary when you come to this area of the state.  For tourist wanting to see the historic and later day Alaska, the town of Nome will provide everything the traveler is expecting.
